Produkce, spotřeba a výše daně z piva v zemích EU
Pernička, Lukáš
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to verify the existence of the state protectionism of domestic consumption or beer production in the countries of the European Union. The most used method in the thesis was comparison, as well as the method of inter-pretation, analogy or description. First, I collected data in the form of rates of beer taxes, beer production and consumption in individual countries. Furthermore, using correlation and regression analyses, I evaluated the dependence of consumption on the tax level and the dependence of the output on the tax level. Then I evaluated the results and drew conclusions. The first result of my work is that there is no depend-ence between beer consumption and beer tax rate. I cannot prove the existence of protectionism of beer consumption. Furthermore, I have proven the independence between production and the rate of beer tax. The protectionism of the country's beer production in the countries of the European Union cannot be proved either. In the final part of my thesis, I have described the probable causes of my result. By exten-sion of the study area, it is possible to get better-reaching outcomes.
Změny v odvětví pivovarnictví a jejich ekonomické dopady na malé české pivovary
Krestýnová, Martina
The thesis is focused on the brewing industry in the Czech Republic and changes within it which influenced the development of small Czech breweries. An analysis of the industry is performed using the Porter's Five Forces model focusing on the five competitive forces represented by the threat of new entrants, the bargaining power of suppliers, the bargaining power of customers, substitute products or services, and established rivals. Market concentration is also analyzed given the changes in the brewing industry. Changes in consumer demand and their influence on the brewing industry are examined subsequently. In particular, the change of consumer preferences leading to an increased consumption of stronger beers or aspects of beer selection are analyzed. Based on the findings, the impacts of these changes on small Czech breweries are described. In the next part of the thesis, economic results of selected breweries are compared using the indicators of value added margins, return on assets, return on equity and return on sales.

Breweries are specific for complex and expensive reverse logistics of returnable packaging. The question whether producing beer in PET bottles would be appropriate for Protivín brewery is studied. Determining the level of services provided for brewery customers is examined. According to the results presented here, the greatest demands on services provided by breweries appeared to be those by the customers in gastronomy sphere. Based on the questionnaire investigation, the standards in providing brewing services were set together. Finally, I suggested possible improvements that should lead to cost savings, greater flexibility of operations and competitive advantages for the Protivín brewery as well as for the whole K Brewery Group.
